What We Know

  • School-day test date confirmed for Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
    • We expect that this date will be for registered 8th grade students who attend a public DOE middle school.
    • These students will test at their current school during the school day.
  • Alternate test dates confirmed for students not attending public DOE middle schools (registered 8th grade students who attend charter, private, parochial, or independent schools, or who are homeschooled).
    • Saturday, November 18
    • Sunday, November 9
    • Sunday, December 3
    • Saturday, December 9
    • Speak with your guidance counselor if special exceptions apply to your family. Historically, these students test at a centralized DOE location. More information pending release by the DOE.
  • Registration opens October 3 and closes October 27.
    • Families must register directly – third parties (like The Tutorverse) cannot register on your behalf.

There are several steps to take before October 3.

Discuss Specialized High School Preference Order

If you haven’t already decided, now is the time to sit down with your student to discuss the order in which you would like to rank the Specialized High Schools. This will be part of the registration process, so it is best to know your preferred ranking ahead of registration.

Keep (or start) Studying
For students in our classes and programming, continue to show up for class, take notes, and practice on your homework. Also review your old coursework, homework and practice tests. Your student may be eligible for complimentary enrollment in our SHSAT Bridge Programming, which will help students continue studying through the school day testing session (after Bridge Programming concludes, students may enroll for private one-on-one tutoring to continue studying). Keep an eye out for an email from us mid-October for confirmation and next steps!

If you need personalized attention, or want to supplement your group class, email us to set up private tutoring.
