Online Programming
Based on positive feedback received from the spring semester, we will continue to offer online programming for the fall semester.
Nevertheless, we plan to make several changes to the online experience.
Please read this page carefully to understand the parameters of fall online programming.
Why will you be hosting online programming?
Feedback from the spring semester follow-up survey showed that our online programming works for a lot of families, for a few main reasons:
-
Due to the uncertainty and risk presented by COVID-19, many families will not have their child return to in-person learning in the fall.
-
Our online programming is flexible, allowing for more options in a student’s schedule.
-
Our online programming is recorded for on-demand viewing and reviewing, as well as to support ongoing, independent study.
What might the online experience look like in the fall semester?
Level I Programming
If our contracts are renewed, students enrolled in partnership programming (with Manhattan Youth, etc.) would have the same experience as in the spring semester. This means students:
-
will be able to interact with off-line instructors via the Q&A button for live responses to their individual questions
-
will be able to access recordings of their class throughout the semester for review and support
-
will not need to use their video or audio, and will not be recorded as part of the class replay recording
Level II Programming
Families previously enrolled in programming at all school-based locations would be able to:
-
join Level I programming (see above), or
-
join Level II programming, which means students:
-
would be able to unmute and/or enable video to interact directly with the on-screen instructor
-
would be able to access recordings of their class throughout the semester for review and support
-
may need to use their video or audio, and would be recorded as part of the class replay recording
How would students participate in online programming?
We would continue to host class through secured Zoom sessions. Students would log into their sessions according to the class schedule provided.
What would students need in order to participate?
Students participating in Level I programming would only need access to their materials and to a tablet, laptop, or desktop device. Students in Level I programming WOULD NOT need to have a working microphone or camera.
Students participating in Level II programming would need access to their materials and to a tablet, laptop, or desktop device. Students in Level II programming WOULD need to have a working microphone or camera, and they must consent to the possibility of being recorded online.
On what day would online programming take place?
Subject to minimum enrollment requirements, programming would take place as indicated on your original enrollment confirmation from early 2020.
For example, if your original enrollment was for a Tuesday afternoon, your fall program would resume on Tuesday afternoons.
We will confirm your fall enrollment and provide necessary information in the coming weeks.
At what time would online programming take place?
Because we can no longer start class immediately after school, all weekday online programming would be hosted from 4:00pm-6:30pm. This should allow all students (whether attending school that day in-person or remotely) ample time to be ready for class.
We will confirm your fall enrollment and provide necessary information in the coming weeks.
